MEGAN SHEFFIELD

Megan Sheffield is an immigration lawyer and was previously director of the Immigration Project at the Equal Justice Center (EJC) in Austin, Texas. Her practice focused on humanitarian and family-based relief, including DACA, advance parole, labor deferred action (DALE), T visas, U visas, VAWA, SIJS, adjustment of status, citizenship and naturalization. Megan began her work with the EJC as an Equal Justice Works Emerson fellow, conducting assisted pro se DACA clinics throughout the state of Texas. Previously, she was a UT Law Faculty Glickman fellow at Casa Marianella, an immigrant homeless shelter and resource center in Austin, TX, where she primarily represented survivors of violence and worked to expand access to SIJS. Megan earned her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where she participated in the Immigration Clinic for four semesters and was a Pro Bono Scholar.  She attended Pennsylvania State University for undergrad and studied abroad at Institute Tecnológico de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and at Université Paul Valéry Montpellier France. Megan is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

ELISE HARRIGER

Elise Harriger is an immigration lawyer and was previously co-director of the legal clinic at Casa Marianella, a shelter and resource center for immigrants. Elise started the clinic in 2010, thereby expanding the services offered by Casa Marianella. Her practice focused on assisting immigrant victims of trauma and crime. Elise also previously worked in the Austin offices of Ogletree Deakins, where she was the team lead for the extraordinary ability team (EB-1s, NIWs, and O-1s), and Fulbright & Jaworski, where she practiced employment law and business immigration. Elise received her J.D. from The University of Texas, where she was involved with the Immigration Clinic, served as a mentor for the Leon Green Society, and was a Rapoport Human Rights Scholar. She previously served as an Americorps member and on the Casa Marianella Board of Directors. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the Plan II Honors Program at The University of Texas and a graduate degree in theology from Oxford University. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Immigration Lawyers Assocation, and Travis County Women Lawyers' Association.
